1) select groups of 4 from how many total people?

2) the first card can be any of the 13, the second card can be any of the remaining 12, etc. such that you have the following:

13 * 12 * 11 * 10 * 9 = 154,440 possible hands.

3) Any of the 100 can win first prize, only one of the 99 remaining can win second, so you have:

100 * 99 = 9900 possible ways

4) course 1 is any of 12 appatizers, course 2 is any of 15 main dishes:

12 * 15 = 180

5) punctuation helps. Is that 4 different roles ? If so, any of the 20 can be Mark, any of the remaining 19 can be Roger, etc. such that:

20 * 19 * 18 * 17 = 116,280 possible ways

6) Any of the 6 acts can be first, any of the remaining 5 can be second, etc. such that:

6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 720

7) The first book must be the tallest, so there's only one choice. As is the last book. The middle 5 can then be done in any order, and like the others, the first of them is any of the 5, the second is any of the remaining 4, etc, such that you have:

1 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 * 1 = 120 possible ways.

I hope you see the pattern from all these and learn from it. I'd hate to think that I just did your homework for you.
